After Jamaica travel advisory, these vacation spots are safe – El Paso Times

Chilling at Montego Bay, Jamaica, this summer isn’t a good idea, according to the U.S. government.
So where else should people vacation this summer?
Relax. There are beautiful islands to visit with your family or if you’re a solo traveler.
According to the U.S. Department of State, these destinations have been rated as level one (exercise normal precautions).
U.S. citizens are encouraged to enroll in the State Department’s free Smart Traveler Enrollment Program and to prepare contingency plans for emergencies. Travelers should take the usual precautions when traveling alone, such as avoiding walking alone at night and keeping valuables out of sight. It is also recommended to dress modestly and respect local customs.
It’s easy to be dependent on digital devices for most things. With apps like Apple Pay, Venmo, Cash App and Chime, some might wonder what they need cash for.
When traveling, carrying cash is a smart option. People’s personal data is less susceptible, and some businesses around the world don’t have the option to pay on your phone. ATM machines may not be available everywhere, and some restaurants may not deal with cards. Carry enough cash so you can survive easily without your phone.
If you can use your card, remember to notify your bank and credit card companies of your travel and check exchange rates.
