The Jamaica Tourist Board has named Philip Rose deputy director of tourism, Americas, to lead U.S., Caribbean and Latin America. Rose, who replaces the recently retired Donnie Dawson, took office officially on April 1, said JTB officials.
“Philip Rose has a long history working in tourism to promote brand Jamaica,” said Edmund Bartlett, Jamaica’s tourism minister. “Throughout the years, he has proven himself to be a visionary leader whose numerous successes have helped to elevate and maintain Jamaica’s status as one of the world’s top tourism destinations.”

Rose is a “global connector with long-standing relationships” and a “keen ability to identify and leverage marketplace trends and data,” said JTB officials. Rose’s digital expertise “led him to pioneer [JTB]’s use of social media as a marketing tool,” officials added.
Rose is a well-known figure in the Canadian travel industry. He spent seven years, from 2012-2018, as Regional Director for Canada. In his first three years of leading Canadian efforts, visitors increased by 11%, resulting in the most arrivals ever in a single year (420,000 in 2014).
“It’s an honour for me to accept this appointment [from] the Jamaica Tourist Board, who first recruited me from the hospitality sector over 20 years ago,” said Rose.
“I have always been passionate about selling and marketing travel to Jamaica [and] aligning strategies and tactics to meet objectives and targets,” said Rose, “so I look forward to doing so in an expanded capacity.”
